Lufberry circle

Lufberry circle
A World War II tactic adopted by bombers to evade being shot down by enemy fighters. The bomber formation went into a defensive circle to provide mutual protection against attacking fighters. These tactics were not entirely successful as the fighters used vertical displacement against the formation, flying a flattened corkscrew defensive formation.
Bombers are in a defensive circle and trying to protect each other. However, fighters instead of falling behind them are using the vertical plane to shoot them down one by one.
